GW6 Captain Board: Saka. Not Haaland at Anfield.

5 October 2026

This is the GW6 piece in the captain series, following on from the GW5 captain board. The deadline is Saturday at 11:00. Nothing below has been played. These are the five names on the live board this morning, and the reason each one is there.

  • Saka is first, 6.26, Arsenal at home to Leeds. 86 expected minutes, 13.4% owned, £9.5m.
  • Bruno is second, 5.60, United at home to Spurs. The penalties are his. The fixture is not Ipswich.
  • Gabriel and Odegaard are third and fourth in the same Arsenal game. One armband, not three.
  • Tarkowski is fifth, Everton away at Hull. A defender. A floor. Not a glamour pick.
  • Haaland is sixth on 5.00. The fixture is Anfield on Sunday. That is the Palace lesson again.

Demon's readSaka. Arsenal at home to Leeds. Haaland can wait until he is not at Anfield.

Leeds at the Emirates is the template

Arsenal are the champions. Leeds at home is the kind of match the board has paid out on already this season: Coventry at the Emirates in GW1, when Saka scored in a 3-0 and returned 9 from a number that had him level with Bruno. The minutes are there, 86, which is a starter, not a cameo. The ownership is 13.4%, which is low for a captain this obvious, because a lot of managers are still staring at Haaland's 73.6%. You do not need the crowd. You need the shot. Saka is the one in this game who takes it.

Gabriel at 5.22 is the same match from the other end. Ninety minutes, a clean sheet if Leeds do not score, and the odd goal from a set piece. If Arsenal win 1-0 and Saka is not the scorer, Gabriel can win the armband. If Arsenal score two or three, Saka is the one who hauls and a defender tops out. Captain Saka. Vice Gabriel. Odegaard at 5.17 and £6.8m is the differential in the same XI, owned by 19.8%, with only 77 expected minutes. He scored in that GW1 win. He is also the one who can be hooked. Do not arm three Arsenal players. Pick the one with the minutes and the shots.

Bruno at home to Spurs is real. It is not the Ipswich game

Bruno is second because he is on the penalties, the free kicks, and 90 minutes, at Old Trafford. That is the same profile that put him top in GW2, when Ipswich came and he scored three and assisted, in a game ESPN had at 4.55 xG. Spurs are not Ipswich. A derby at home can be 1-1 with the chances shared, which is what Fulham away just did to him in GW5, two points, and what Everton away did in GW3. The armband is live because the set pieces are his and the crowd is his. It is not live because every home game is a hat-trick. 38.9% owned means you are not getting a differential. You are getting the safe United captain if you do not want to ride Arsenal.

Tarkowski is the floor. Haaland is the trap

Tarkowski away at Hull on 5.01 is the model saying a £6.1m centre-back can outscore a superstar if the superstar's match is horrible and the defender's match might be a clean sheet. Hull beat United 2-0 on the opening day and they are awkward at the MKM. Everton going there is a grind, not a 4-0. A defender captain is the week you want four or five points doubled, not fifteen. Fine as a vice if you are chasing a sheet. A strange armband if Arsenal are at home to Leeds on the same slate.

Haaland is sixth, on 5.00 even, level with the idea of Tarkowski and behind four other names. Liverpool at Anfield, Sunday 16:30, is the fixture. We already cut him for Palace away in GW2 and he was right to be second. Anfield is a harder version of that. City have to go there after a 5-3 with Sunderland in which he scored and still missed his GW5 number, because the bonus and the sheet vanished. Do not arm him because 73% of the game did. The board has him sixth for a reason. Saka is the captain.

The earlier weeks are all up: GW1, GW2, GW3, GW4 and GW5.
