GW5 Captain Board: Haaland Scored in a 5-3 and Still Missed.
21 September 2026
This is the GW5 piece in the captain series, following on from the GW4 captain board. These five are the GW5 order we had on 12 September, inside that week's freeze. A separate lock was not taken on deadline day, six days later. The names did not move in the file we have. Haaland first, Bruno second.
- Haaland 6.55, Sunderland at home. He scored the fifth in a 5-3 and finished on 6. A miss against the xPts by a whisker.
- Bruno was second, away at Fulham, and finished on 2 in a 1-1.
- Gibbs-White, Guehi and Wissa all missed. Wissa returned nothing at all.
- Brobbey scored a hat-trick for Sunderland and City still won. The clean sheet was never coming.
- Next, and this one is live: the GW6 captain board.
The five

Demon's readSunderland at home was the right fixture. The 5-3 ate the clean sheet and left Haaland short of his number.
Haaland scored. The game was a basketball match
Sunderland at the Etihad is the sort of home game the board puts him back on top for, the same logic as Coventry in GW3. He was 6.55, clear of Bruno. You captain that. What you cannot captain is a promise of a 1-0. City won 5-3. Fernandez, Cherki, Semenyo twice, and Haaland's fifth on 81 minutes. Brobbey scored three at the other end and ran Dias ragged. BBC noted Haaland had now scored against every Premier League side he has faced. Six points. Appearance, a goal, no bonus worth writing home about in a game with that many names on the sheet. Against 6.55 that is a miss. Twelve with the armband is still a return. It is not the return the number was selling, because the clean sheet and the bonus both died in a 5-3.
Bruno at Craven Cottage was the away step down
Bruno at 5.71 was second because Fulham away is a step down from Ipswich at home, and the board already knew that after GW2. Fulham drew 1-1. Bruno finished on two. Same blank shape as Goodison in GW3. The captain who hauls when the game is 4.55 xG does not haul when the opponent keeps the door shut. Two points, four with the armband. A miss, and an obvious one if you looked at the venue instead of the name.
The other three never got close
Gibbs-White at home to Coventry looked like the midfield version of a promoted-side smash. He finished on two against 5.57. Home to a promoted team is not a captain on its own if the player is not the one taking the penalties and the game does not break open for him.
Guehi was the City defender people reach for when they do not want to pay Haaland's price in the same match. In a 5-3 there is no clean sheet. He still got to 4, short of 5.51. A City defender in a shootout is a minutes play, not an armband. Wissa at home to Hull was the Newcastle one, 5.37, and he returned 0. Newcastle won 2-1, Willock on 3 minutes and Hall on 7. The goals were there. They were not his. Zero is the row you do not dress up.
The live one is the GW6 captain board. Saka is top, at home to Leeds. Haaland is sixth, because the fixture is Anfield.
