USA 1-4 Belgium
- Result: USA 1-4 Belgium
- Belgium goals: Charles De Ketelaere twice, Hans Vanaken, Romelu Lukaku
- USA goal: Malik Tillman
- Belgium are through to face Spain in R8
- USA are eliminated
- Main fantasy takeaway: Belgium attackers delivered, but Spain in R8 is a much harder test
- R8 xPts: Belgium v Spain is confirmed, but market numbers are still TBC until the R8 feed prices the tie
Belgium did what good knockout teams do: punish mistakes, keep the game moving, and kill the tie before USA could turn pressure into belief. De Ketelaere was the match-winner, Vanaken gave Belgium breathing room, and Lukaku came on to put the final stamp on it.
For fantasy managers, this changes the quarter-final picture straight away. USA players are out. Pulisic (7.0), Tillman (6.1), Balogun (6.5), Dest (4.3), Robinson (5.0) and the USA defence do not need to be held for R8. Belgium are live, but they now run into Spain, so this is not a fixture where you blindly chase the 4-1 scoreline.
Belgium Fantasy Winners
| Player | Price | Output | Fantasy read |
|---|---|---|---|
| Charles De Ketelaere | 6.2 | 2 goals | The obvious name after the brace. Brilliant R16 return, but still check whether he keeps the same role against Spain. |
| Romelu Lukaku | 7.4 | Goal | If he starts v Spain, he is Belgium's cleanest goal route. If he is benched again, the pick becomes much harder. |
| Hans Vanaken | 5.5 | Goal | Useful return, but more of a points-chaser than a priority R8 transfer. |
| Kevin De Bruyne | 7.5 | Creative route | Still the safer Belgium football pick because so much of the attack runs through him. |
| Leandro Trossard | 6.6 | Attacking route | Still interesting if he starts, especially at the price, but Spain are a different level of opponent. |
| Jeremy Doku | 7.5 | Bench impact route | Can break a game, but minutes need checking before trusting him in fantasy. |
The trap is obvious: Belgium just scored four, so every Belgium attacker suddenly looks tempting. The better read is a bit calmer. De Ketelaere earned attention, Lukaku remains the box threat, De Bruyne is the control player, and Trossard/Doku depend heavily on the XI.
USA Fantasy Verdict
USA are out, so there is no quarter-final route for their players. Tillman's goal was a good tournament note, but it does not help your next transfer plan. Pulisic, Tillman, Balogun, Dest, Robinson and the rest can be moved on before R8.
What It Means For Spain v Belgium
Spain v Belgium is now locked. Spain arrive from a tight 1-0 win over Portugal, Belgium arrive from a much louder 4-1 win over USA. That makes the quarter-final interesting because Spain look like the cleaner control side, while Belgium have just shown they can punish a messy defensive game quickly.
Demon has the fixture confirmed in the R8 route, but Belgium v Spain xPts, advance chance and Clean Sheet Shield numbers are still TBC until the market feed prices the new tie. That is the right call: Spain v Belgium needs its own number, not a recycled USA or Portugal number.
| Player | Team | Price | Why they matter |
|---|---|---|---|
| Lamine Yamal | Spain | 10.0 | Still Spain's highest-ceiling attacker if you are thinking captain switch. |
| Mikel Oyarzabal | Spain | 8.1 | Forward route is alive, but he needs the Spain attack to create cleaner chances than against Portugal. |
| Pedro Porro | Spain | 5.5 | Best Spain defensive return against Portugal and still carries attacking upside. |
| Marc Cucurella | Spain | 5.1 | Value clean-sheet route if Spain's shield number opens strongly. |
| Kevin De Bruyne | Belgium | 7.5 | The safest Belgium creative route if Belgium are going to trouble Spain. |
| Romelu Lukaku | Belgium | 7.4 | Goal route if he starts. Do not buy before team news if his minutes are unclear. |
| Charles De Ketelaere | Belgium | 6.2 | Brace hero, but do not assume R16 points automatically repeat in R8. |
| Leandro Trossard | Belgium | 6.6 | Price makes him interesting if he starts close to Lukaku or De Bruyne. |
The Demon read: Belgium have earned respect, but Spain are still the cleaner fantasy side until the R8 numbers say otherwise. Keep Belgium attackers on the watchlist, especially Lukaku and De Bruyne, but do not overreact to the 4-1 without checking the projected points page after the tie prices up.
