GW6 Demon Notes

FPL Antony

Missed Saturday's action? Don't worry, the Demon was watching.
Here are the biggest moments, standout performances and FPL talking points from GW6. Who impressed, who disappointed, and who's worth your precious transfers? All the good stuff, without sitting through 90 minutes of misery.
Chelsea vs Bournemouth

What a game! Chelsea were absolutely flying going forward, while Bournemouth looked like they'd forgotten how to defend. Going forward, they weren't much better either.
Rogers: What a goal! Curled a beauty into the top corner after just 2 minutes. He looked dangerous, kept the ball well and seemed hungry for more. Unfortunately, the chances dried up after that.
Palmer: Started like a man possessed, charging into the box before setting up Henderson after just 68 seconds. I thought we were in for a masterclass, but apparently he'd done enough work for the day. His second assist came from winning the free-kick Henderson scored. Two assists, but nowhere near his best performance.
Pedro: So quiet in the first half I almost forgot he was playing. Then he remembered he was a striker! Two goals, one an absolute rocket into the top corner and the other a simple tap-in. He's essential for me right now. So many Chelsea attacks end with him finishing them.
Evanilson: His goal was pure luck. A defender smashed a clearance against his leg and the ball somehow ended up in the net. If you're thinking of bringing him in because he scored, I'd seriously think again.
Tavernier: Quiet overall, but created two excellent chances, sending Rayan one-on-one and delivering a cross Evanilson nearly tapped in. On another day, he gets 2 assists and FPL Twitter declares him essential. Also involved in most set-pieces, but I'm waiting until GW9 when the fixtures improve.
Demon's Verdict
I love Chelsea going forward, but let's not start selling our souls to own three of their players. Five goals from just 1.17 xG is ridiculous finishing, not something you can bank on every week. Already own three? Keep them. Don't? No need to tear your team apart.
As for Bournemouth, they're going straight onto my naughty list. Poor at the back, disappointing going forward, and nothing I saw today convinced me to invest in them. Avoid!
Manchester United vs Tottenham

90 minutes of absolute torture. I nearly fell asleep watching this rubbish. United managed just 0.8 xG at home, and how Spurs somehow scraped together 1.62 xG is one of life's great mysteries.
Fernandes: Best FPL asset in the game, apparently? At £11.9m with 5 blanks in 6, someone's having a laugh. Barely noticed him playing, no penalty to rescue him, and his set-pieces offered nothing. Own him? Hold for Leeds and Bournemouth. Don't own him? Keep your £11.9m away from this misery.
Mbeumo: The only player who remembered how to play football. Set up Amad, scored a beauty from a tight angle and nearly grabbed another. After missing sitters for weeks, he suddenly scores that! FPL really is a cruel game. The only United attacker I'd consider buying.
Solanke: Missed an early sitter my granny would've buried, then vanished. Somehow scored while wrestling Martínez to the ground, with the ball brushing his head on the way in. Even he probably couldn't believe his luck. Don't fall for it.
Savio: Dangerous down the left but with the end product of a broken shopping trolley. Same old Man City problems. Created chances that Solanke and Kudus wasted and nearly scored himself. Plenty of danger, not enough points. Show me consistent returns before I even consider him.
Van Hecke: No DEFCON, no set-piece threat, no attacking threat. Just a yellow card and a wasted spot in your FPL team. Thanks for absolutely nothing.
Demon's Verdict
I'd rather watch paint dry than sit through that again.
Fernandes is charging premium prices for budget entertainment. Keep him for the fixtures, but Mbeumo is the only United player tempting me.
As for Spurs, Solanke got lucky, Savio can't finish his dinner, and Van Hecke might as well have stayed on the team bus.
Two teams, 90 minutes, and absolutely nobody worth losing sleep over.
Arsenal vs Leeds

Leeds had the champions on the ropes for an hour, but Arsenal found a way back. Two goals in eight minutes rescued them from an embarrassing afternoon. Not pretty, but that's what champions do.
Raya: Becoming an expensive headache. Two games without a clean sheet, despite making some excellent saves today. When £4.5m keepers are delivering better value, you start questioning the premium.
Gabriel: £8.0m and getting outscored by defenders half his price. Even dodged the ball when he could've cleared Leeds' goal! At that price, I expect a fortress, not a spectator. Better value elsewhere.
Ødegaard: Spent more time fixing his hair than creating chances. Completely anonymous. If there was a DEFCON for looking pretty, he'd be essential.
Calafiori: What a bargain! Scored the equaliser, looked solid and now has 3 goal involvements this season. While Gabriel is draining your budget, Calafiori is delivering the goods. My preferred Arsenal defender.
Saka: A frustrating afternoon, especially for captainers. Quiet for large spells and missed a golden chance late on. Just 1 shot on target, nowhere near what you expect from a premium attacker. Still a hold for me.
Calvert-Lewin: Decent hold-up play but barely threatened the goal. Just 1 shot on target and another two-point special. Better days will come, but nothing here makes me want to buy.
Demon's Verdict
Arsenal won, but their premium FPL assets are charging first-class prices for economy-class returns.
Raya and Gabriel are becoming difficult to justify, while Calafiori looks the clear value pick. I'd keep Saka, but wouldn't rush to buy him.
Leeds gave Arsenal a proper scare, but Calvert-Lewin still isn't tempting me.
Three points for Arsenal, plenty of headaches for FPL managers.
Sunderland vs Brighton

Brighton are looking frighteningly good! A 2–0 win despite playing with ten men for over 30 minutes. Sunderland had 62% possession but couldn't make their advantage count. All that ball and absolutely nothing to show for it.
Groß: Another assist, this time setting up De Cuyper. His deliveries caused problems throughout, and he continues to look dangerous from set-pieces. At 35, he's making younger midfielders look like pensioners. A tempting FPL option.
De Cuyper: Another goal and clean sheet! Constantly offering attacking threat while Brighton keep things tight at the back. Exactly what you want from an FPL defender. One of my favourite options right now.
Vušković: Solid defensively and dangerous from corners, with two headed opportunities. Clean-sheet potential and set-piece threat? That's a combination I can get behind.
Kostoulas: A quiet afternoon. Had a shot blocked but never really threatened. Substituted around the hour mark following Brighton's red card. Not enough to tempt me into buying.
Le Fée: Showed some quality with dangerous deliveries, including a pull-back that led to a Sunderland effort hitting the post via a deflection. Unfortunately, Sunderland couldn't finish their dinner, even against ten men. Avoid for now.
Demon's Verdict
Brighton are flying! Three straight league wins and clean sheets. De Cuyper is my favourite defensive pick, Groß looks tempting, and Vušković offers set-piece threat.
As for Sunderland, they had an extra man for over half an hour and still couldn't score. If that's their attacking plan, my FPL team wants absolutely no part of it.
Ipswich vs Fulham

Fulham were cruising towards three points before completely falling apart. Two goals conceded in the 88th and 91st minutes. Apparently, defending for the full 90 minutes wasn't part of the plan.
King: One of Fulham's brighter players. Created some good opportunities, including a lovely chance for Gonzalo, who wasted it. His creativity impressed me, but the lack of goal threat is concerning. Must be hell creating chances for teammates who can't finish.
Gonzalo García: Got into dangerous positions but wasted a golden opportunity to put Fulham in control. His movement was promising, but his finishing needs serious work. All that effort just to torment his FPL owners.
Affengruber: Another DEFCON return, but Fulham's defence continues to be a disaster. If you're after DEFCON, he's your man. If you're expecting clean sheets, you're making a deal with the devil, and trust me, you're getting robbed.
Emersonn: Started up front but offered little goal threat other than hitting the post very early on. Ipswich's comeback was impressive, but he wasn't involved in either goal. Not enough to make me consider bringing him in.
Demon's Verdict
Fulham had three points in their hands and somehow threw all of them in the bin.
King remains my favourite Fulham attacker, while Gonzalo needs to sort out his finishing. Affengruber offers DEFCON potential, but I wouldn't trust Fulham for clean sheets.
Ipswich deserve credit for the comeback, but I'm not rushing to invest in their attack.
Fulham spent 88 minutes building a win and three minutes setting fire to it.
Aston Villa vs Brentford

What a game! Four goals, plenty of chances and both teams refusing to defend a lead. Villa looked dangerous going forward, but Brentford kept finding ways to punish them.
Schade: Looked dangerous with his pace and helped create Brentford's opener. Nearly scored with a powerful volley, but Suzuki denied him. Unfortunately, his afternoon ended with an injury. Plenty of threat, but now he's giving FPL managers a headache for all the wrong reasons.
Thiago: A real handful for Villa's defence. His movement and physical presence caused problems, and his cross helped create the opener. No attacking return, but don't let the blank fool you. He was involved.
Buendía: Looked lively and played a big part in Jackson's equaliser, with his deflected shot falling perfectly for the striker. Also wasted a good opportunity himself. Decent performance, but I'm not rushing to buy.
Manzambi: Really enjoyed watching him link up with Jackson. Their movement and interplay were beautiful at times, and he showed great composure to find McGinn for Villa's second. Also had a dangerous shot blocked. Definitely one I'm keeping an eye on.
Jackson: Took his goal well, reacting quickly to finish from close range. Also forced Kelleher into an excellent save. His chemistry with Manzambi is looking promising, and if they keep combining like this, FPL points should follow.
Demon's Verdict
Villa's attack is finally showing some life, and the Manzambi–Jackson partnership has caught my attention. I'd watch both closely before investing.
Brentford remain dangerous, with Schade and Thiago causing problems, but I'm not chasing either after this game.
Four goals, two leaky defences, and enough attacking potential to tempt us into another FPL mistake. The devil is watching.
