FPL GW2 Captain Picks: Bruno or Haaland?
27 August 2026
FPL Demon

Haaland blanked. United lost at Hull. And now everyone's second-guessing everything. The Demon isn't. Ipswich are going to Old Trafford, and that changes the whole week.
1. Bruno Fernandes (Man Utd, MID)
Ipswich (H).
Blanked at Hull with the rest of United. Don't pick your captain off one away day at a promoted side. Ipswich at Old Trafford is the game United were supposed to have last week.
0.38 expected goals and 0.41 expected assists, the most creative number on the Demon's board. He's on penalties, and a midfielder's goal pays five. The Demon has him top on 6.66.
Demon's Verdict: Home, penalties, the best fixture on the board. Top of the Demon's list.
2. Erling Haaland (Man City, FWD)
Crystal Palace (A).
Should have scored against Bournemouth. 0.74 expected goals, five efforts, two points. The chances are there. He's on 0.74 again this week, the most of anyone. But Selhurst isn't the Etihad.
Demon's Verdict: A very close second. The safe pick if you want the template covered.
3. Bryan Mbeumo (Man Utd, MID)

Ipswich (H).
Bruno takes the penalties and makes the passes. Mbeumo takes the shots. 0.45 expected goals in the same fixture.
Demon's Verdict: Own both if you can. Captain Mbeumo only if Bruno isn't in your side.
4. Martin Ødegaard (Arsenal, MID)

Aston Villa (A).
11 points against Coventry: a goal, maximum bonus, three shots. Villa were 4-0 down at Brighton and are missing Watkins and Martínez.
Demon's Verdict: Villa are a mess right now. The differential armband for anyone chasing.
5. João Pedro (Chelsea, FWD)

Brighton (H).
Scored 31 seconds into the season at Fulham, with Palmer setting it up. Chelsea put three past them away from home, and now it's Brighton at the Bridge.
Demon's Verdict: Already off the mark and leading the line at home. The striker nobody's talking about yet.
Demon's Final Word
Don't let one bad week change your mind. Bruno has the fixture, Haaland has the chances, and Pedro is already off the mark. Pick the one that fits your team.
Good luck.
