Ghana left it late. Very late. Panama looked ready to take a point, then Caleb Yirenkyi arrived in the 95th minute and changed the whole mood of Group L.
This was not a smooth Ghana performance. Panama had more of the ball, forced saves, and made Ghana wait for the moment. For fantasy, that means the result is better than the attacking display.
Here are the Demon Notes from Ghana 1-0 Panama: Yirenkyi's winner, Semenyo watchlist, Ghana clean-sheet points and what to do before the England game.
Ghana 1-0 Panama

Demon Notes
- Yirenkyi (£4.7m) got the moment. A 95th-minute winner, huge for Ghana, huge for the group, but do not buy him just because of one late goal unless his minutes improve.
- Semenyo (£7.2m) did not haul, but he is still the Ghana attacker most fantasy managers will recognise. The problem is the next fixture: England. Good player, awkward timing.
- Thomas-Asante (£5.1m) made the assist from the bench. That helps his case, but it also tells you Ghana's attack might stay messy. If you want a Ghana forward, wait for line-up clues before jumping.
- Ghana defenders banked the clean sheet, but the match was not comfortable. Panama had more possession and more shots. Clean-sheet points are lovely when you own them, but England next is a different level.
- Ati-Zigi (£4.0m) made important early saves before going off at half-time. Keep an eye on that, because goalkeeper switches matter a lot in World Cup Fantasy when managers are rotating by kick-off time.
- Panama were better than the score suggests. Waterman forced an early save and Mosquera kept them alive late. The issue is the fixture list: Croatia and England are not friendly follow-ups.
MD2 Fantasy Takeaway
Ghana got the result, but this is not a match to overreact to. If you already owned a Ghana defender, take the points. If you are buying now, England next makes it a brave move.
Semenyo is a good watchlist player rather than a must-buy. If Ghana look better against England, he becomes interesting again for Croatia in MD3. For now, there are easier fixtures to attack.
