France looked like a knockout team with the switch flipped. Norway rotated, France punished them, and Ousmane Dembele turned the whole R32 fantasy conversation upside down with a first-half hat-trick.
We already liked the France attack because the route, the ceiling and the captaincy windows were there. After this, Dembele is not a side note anymore. He is in the captain/xPts conversation with Mbappe, and that matters for Qualification Booster drafts too.
Here are the Demon Notes from Norway 1-4 France: Dembele going nuclear, Mbappe still ticking, Maignan saving a penalty, Norway qualifying but looking open, and what it means for the round of 32.
Norway 1-4 France
- Goals: Ousmane Dembele x3, Desire Doue; Thelo Aasgaard for Norway
- Key moments: Maignan saved Jorgen Strand Larsen's penalty; France scored three before half-time
- Group I: France finish top with 9 points, Norway finish second with 6 points
- R32 route: France's opponent is still treated as provisional in Demon data; Norway project toward Cote d'Ivoire
- Fantasy story: Dembele has exploded into a serious R32 captain and xPts pick
Team Stats
Player Stats
| Player | Pos | Price | Output | Match stats | Fantasy verdict |
|---|---|---|---|---|---|
| Ousmane Dembele | MID | 10.0m | Hat-trick | 3 shots, 3 on target, perfect Sofascore 10 | Buy/watch. He is now a proper R32 captain candidate |
| Kylian Mbappe | FWD | 10.5m | Assists | Involved in the first-half damage and still central to France's ceiling | Still elite, but Dembele now shares the spotlight |
| Desire Doue | MID | 7.5m | Goal | Scored late from Barcola's delivery | Excellent talent, but minutes are the question |
| Mike Maignan | GK | 5.5m | Penalty save | 3 saves and a Strand Larsen penalty stop | France shield route is live if the draw holds |
| Erling Haaland | FWD | 10.5m | Unused | Norway rested him after already qualifying | Still dangerous for R32, but Norway defence is the concern |
| Thelo Aasgaard | MID | 5.5m | Goal | Norway's scorer in a rotated XI | Good real-life moment, not a core fantasy route |
Demon Notes
- Dembele is the headline. Hat-trick, perfect 10 rating, and the kind of form spike that has to move him up the xPts and captain boards.
- Mbappe is still Mbappe. The issue is no longer whether he is good enough; it is whether Dembele gives you similar ceiling from midfield structure.
- France conceded, but Maignan's penalty save matters for Clean Sheet Shield thinking. France do not need a normal clean sheet for the shield to pay; they need to avoid conceding twice.
- Norway qualified, but the defensive profile is messy. They conceded four and needed Maignan to save a penalty from Strand Larsen too, so Norway defenders are not the angle.
- Haaland being rested does not kill him. If Norway go full strength in R32, he is still the route. The question is whether the tie is safe enough for the booster.
Round Of 32 Fantasy Angle
France are through as Group I winners and the Demon route model now treats them as one of the stronger R32 sides. Their exact opponent can still depend on the third-place route, so we are keeping that fixture as provisional rather than pretending it is official.
For now, France are a strong Qualification Booster team and a strong Clean Sheet Shield team. Dembele, Mbappe and one defensive route are all live, but the draw matters because France can still land a tougher third-place opponent than the label suggests.
Norway are also through, but the France game is a warning. Haaland remains a fantasy monster, while Norway defenders get marked down because the team have now conceded seven goals across the group.
