Croatia Fantasy Picks: Modric Corner Sends Them Through

28 June 2026

World Cup Fantasy Demon Notes Croatia Ghana guide card

Croatia did the very Croatia thing. The group was slipping, Ghana had levelled, then Luka Modric put a corner exactly where it needed to go and Nikola Vlasic won it late.

The 2-1 win sends Croatia through as Group L runners-up. Ghana finish third, but the live bracket picture still has them in the R32 conversation as one of the best third-placed sides.

Here are the Demon Notes from Croatia 2-1 Ghana: Sucic's opener, Luckassen's VAR equaliser, Vlasic's winner, Modric's assist, and what the result does to R32 fantasy planning.

Croatia 2-1 Ghana

  • Goals: Petar Sucic, Derrick Luckassen, Nikola Vlasic
  • Assists: Mateo Kovacic, Ernest Nuamah free-kick, Luka Modric corner
  • Group L: Croatia finish second on 6 points
  • Ghana finish third on 4 points and currently project through, but keep the route provisional until FIFA locks the third-place table
  • Demon model: Croatia 38% Advance vs current Portugal route, Ghana 32% Advance vs current Colombia route

Demon Notes

  • Croatia are through, but this is not a clean fantasy route. The current working opponent is Portugal as the Group K runner-up slot, so Croatia stacks are risky.
  • Modric still matters in real football. For fantasy, the issue is price, minutes and whether Croatia create enough to justify the pick.
  • Sucic and Vlasic both scored, but neither becomes a must-buy just because of one moment. They are low-owned punts if the R32 fixture opens up.
  • Ghana are the weird one. They lost, but four points and a level goal difference keeps them live/currently projected through in the third-place picture.
  • If Ghana are confirmed, treat them as differential-only. Colombia is the current working route in Demon data, and that is not a clean booster fixture.

Round Of 32 Fantasy Angle

Croatia finished second in Group L, which means their slot is against the Group K runner-up. Demon is using Portugal as the current working opponent until Group K fully locks, with Croatia rated 38% to advance and 36% for Shield.

Ghana finished third. Multiple live bracket reports have them still in the knockout picture, so Demon is treating them as a provisional third-place qualifier for now. The current working route is Colombia, with Ghana rated 32% to advance and 30% for Shield.
