David Hat-Trick, Canada Batter Qatar and Koné Injury Overshadows Win

World Cup Fantasy MD2 transfer targets guide card

Canada finally got their World Cup win, and they did it properly. Qatar were blown away 6-0, Jonathan David (£7.0m) scored a hat-trick, and Canada suddenly look full of fantasy points.

The night still had a horrible moment. Ismael Kone went off with a serious leg injury after a red-card challenge from Assim Madibo. Football stops mattering for a bit when that happens, so all of us at Demon wish him a full and speedy recovery.

Here are the Demon Notes from Canada 6-0 Qatar: David's monster haul, Larin doing it again, Saliba stepping up and what to do with Canada assets now.

Canada 6-0 Qatar

  • Goals: Larin, David x3, Saliba, Al-Mannai own goal
  • Assist: Saliba assisted David's third
  • Red cards: Homam Ahmed, Assim Madibo
  • Top fantasy points: Jonathan David 24, Cyle Larin 13, Nathan Saliba 13
  • Next Canada fixture: Switzerland in MD3

Demon Notes

  • David (£7.0m) smashed it. Three goals, 24 MD2 points and the kind of captain score that can swing a whole mini-league. If you owned him, enjoy it. If you missed him, do not chase the points without checking the next fixture.
  • Larin (£6.2m) has quietly become a proper World Cup Fantasy problem. He scored in MD1, scored again here, and now sits on 21 total points. The price is still friendly, but Canada have Switzerland next, so this is not a free hit.
  • Saliba (£5.1m) came on for Kone and scored a lovely long-range finish. Huge moment, especially after the injury. The issue is minutes: do not buy him unless the team news points to a start.
  • Qatar being down to nine men matters. Canada were excellent, but the game state became fantasy heaven. That means David and Larin deserve respect, but it does not mean every Canada player is suddenly a must-buy.
  • The clean sheet helps the Canada defence, but Alphonso Davies (£4.9m) and Moise Bombito (£4.8m) stayed on the bench while recovering. That makes the back line harder to call until we get clearer team news.
  • Before anything else, the Kone injury was awful. Saliba holding up his shirt after scoring said it all. Hopefully the recovery goes as well as possible.

MD3 Fantasy Takeaway

Canada should be on four points now, with Switzerland next in MD3. That is a decent fixture, not a gift. Switzerland are organised, they have their own fantasy options, and Canada will not get another match state like this every week.

David (£7.0m) is still the one to watch. Demon has him at 4.4 xPts for MD3, so he is not projected as one of the highest captain picks, but confidence matters too. A hat-trick, penalties and home-nation momentum makes him a fair pick if you want form over pure projection.

Larin (£6.2m) is the cheaper Canada pick at 3.9 MD3 xPts. If you already own him, he is playable. If you are buying fresh, David is the cleaner pick and the Switzerland attackers project higher on the other side, with Embolo, Vargas and Xhaka all strong in our MD3 numbers.

Verdict: do not chase Canada blindly. David is a good confidence pick. Larin is fine if owned. Saliba is only a punt if team news says he starts. The defence needs minutes checked because Davies and Bombito are still part of the picture.
